What does weekly pool service cost across Florida?

Prices follow the local market as much as the pool. Tampa Bay sits in the middle of the state’s range.

Area Monthly cost, weekly service Source
Tampa Bay, standard screened pool $135 to $165 Florida Pool Wizards
Tampa Bay, large or unscreened pool $170 to $220 Florida Pool Wizards
Central Florida $100 to $175 Pool Mechanic
Florida, per visit about $38 a visit, $152 a month Home Gnome
National range $100 to $400 Swimply

Most Tampa Bay companies quote a flat monthly rate with chemicals included. A few price per visit, which works out about the same over a month but leaves chemicals as a separate line.

What changes the monthly price?

Six things, and the company will ask about all of them before quoting.

  • Pool size. Larger pools take longer to brush and vacuum and use more chemicals.
  • Screen enclosure. A screened pool stays cleaner; open-air pools under trees cost $25 to $50 a month more.
  • Water type. Saltwater pools need salt cell checks and cleaning on top of the usual chemistry.
  • Spa or water features. A spa or waterfall is extra surface and extra plumbing to look after.
  • Equipment. Older or unusual equipment takes more attention on each visit.
  • Frequency. Weekly is standard in Florida. Every other week is cheaper per month but risks algae in summer.

What is not included?

Three things usually sit outside the monthly fee. A one-time green pool recovery is priced on its own, typically by the number of visits it takes to clear. Filter cleaning may be included quarterly or charged each time. Repairs and parts are always separate, and for pumps, heaters and resurfacing the company needs a Florida pool contractor license; the License verified mark on MyPoolsGuide shows which ones hold it.

Common questions

What does a weekly pool service visit include?

A standard weekly visit in Tampa Bay covers skimming, brushing the walls, steps and waterline, vacuuming as needed, emptying the skimmer and pump baskets, testing and balancing the water, and checking the pump, filter, timer and valves for problems. Chemicals are usually included in the monthly price. Filter cleaning, green pool recovery and repairs are commonly priced as extras, so ask what the agreement covers.

Why is my pool service quote higher than the typical range?

Size, screen and trees explain most of it. Unscreened pools under oaks or palms collect far more debris, which is why Tampa Bay companies quote $170 to $220 a month for them against $135 to $165 for a screened pool. Saltwater systems, spas, older equipment and heavy summer use also add time to each visit, and companies price by time. Two quotes for the same pool can still differ by $30 a month.

Is weekly pool service worth it in Florida?

For most owners, yes. Florida pools run all year, and a missed week in summer can turn a pool green, which costs several hundred dollars to recover. A $150 monthly service includes chemicals that would cost $40 to $60 a month to buy yourself, plus the equipment checks that catch a failing pump before it burns out. The real value is the technician who shows up every week. That is what the Our Pick badge on MyPoolsGuide marks.
