Pool calculators

Four free tools for the numbers every pool owner needs: how much water your pool holds, how much salt to add, what weekly service should cost, and what resurfacing will run to. Each one shows the math and answers the questions people actually ask.

Which calculator do you need?

Start with volume. Pool volume in gallons is the number every other pool calculation depends on. Chlorine, salt, acid, shock and stabilizer are all dosed per 10,000 gallons, and the pump and filter your pool needs are sized from it. Work it out once and write it down.

Then salt, if you run a salt system. Salt chlorine generators want about 3,200 ppm. Once you know your gallons and your current reading, the amount to add is a straight calculation, and the answer comes back in 40 pound bags.

The two cost calculators are for deciding, not dosing. Weekly service cost tells you what a fair quote looks like for your pool in Tampa Bay before you ring anyone. Resurfacing cost tells you what a much bigger job should run to, and which finish is worth the difference.
